About

“All communication must lead to change.” – Aristotle

Whether it’s to change employee attitudes, build loyalty to your brand, convince a consumer to buy your product, influence the public to use your services or persuade a donor to contribute to your organization, your communication should lead to change. I am passionate about writing that is based on a strategy of change.
I have more than 25 years of experience in communications and marketing with a focus on health care organizations and health-related topics. A freelancer since 2000, I manage projects of all sizes, from simple newsletters to robust annual reports to major communication campaigns. I also write business and feature articles, and copy for newsletters, the Web, social media, media releases, brochures and other collateral materials. I have also used my skills for more unique projects, such as ghostwriting a blog, editing teaching curriculum, leading communications training, writing award nominations and creating seminar descriptions.

My clients appreciate my “glass half full” attitude, ability to put interviewees at ease and skill at simplifying complex subject matter.

BIO:

I graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Journalism and English and began my career as a marketing associate at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Prior to beginning my freelance business in 2000, I served as an editor at Argus Communications in Allen, Texas, and a stakeholder communications coordinator at Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas.

My writing career began with an award-winning essay on the Star Spangled Banner in the fourth grade, and my first paid gig ($5!) was an article published in a Dennis the Menace comic book when I was in the sixth grade.

I am an active volunteer with Joni and Friends, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities, and I take my dog to a nursing home each month with Paws to Care. I have also served as a creative writing instructor at the Plano Senior Center and Presbyterian Village North.

A Dallas native, I live in University Park with my teenage son, sweet old dog and three surviving fish.
